Why Choose Laser Cutting?
What are the benefits of Laser Cutting?
- In comparison with punching it gives a superior edge finish that requires no de-burring or finishing.
- Intricate detail & marking are all possible.
- Lasers can cut complex shapes without the need for tooling.
- Speed is comparable or faster than other profile cutting methods.
- Localised heat distortion is reduced.
- A polished edge finish can be achieved on stainless steel using a nitrogen assist gas.
What is Laser Cutting?
Laser cutting machinery can produce complex contours with immense accuracy. The laser beam is usually 0.15 mm (or 0.006 inches) in diameter with a power of 1000 to 2000 watts.
Laser cutting can also be complementary to the CNC/Turret process. The CNC/Turret process can produce internal features such as holes, whereas laser cutting can produce external complex features easily.
Laser Cutting with Compressed Air
As assist gases, oxygen and nitrogen work in opposite directions, the thicker the material, the less oxygen is needed to cut it; the thicker the material, the more nitrogen is required.
Apart from our precision laser cutting service, St Anns Sheet Metal specialise in light to medium fabrication work, CNC punching and CNC Bending facilities. We can also offer competetively priced precision machining, quality powder coating and plating processes. St. Ann's Sheet Metal are able to satisfy customer needs efficiently and competetively.

1. Right Equipment / Latest Technology
"The Sheet Metal Company's capacity list - Does the Sheet Metal Company have the right machinery and equipment to manufacture the components you require efficiently? As with any business a Sheet Metal Company needs to remain competitive at the same time it needs to embrace innovation and new technologies. Innovation drives new fabricating technology which can resolve inefficiencies. Innovation and new technology introduced onto the shop floor does have an effect on the production process chain. New machine technologies can launch existing manufacturing processes into being more productive more quickly. This can result in more parts being produced more quickly and orders completed in a shorter timescale."
